The company originally known in Italy as "Prada brothers" was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada in Milan. Prada continued to move from strength to strength and Miuccia Prada inherited the business in 1978 leading the company's expansion into clothing with upmarket styles targeting the richer members of society. By 1990, Prada was a leading force in fashion. Garments were smart yet simple with the colour black particularly targeted as a way of enticing the potential wearer.
