Founded in 1981, Karen Millen has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the foremost fashion brands in the U.K. With a £100 loan, Millen, together with business partner Kevin Stanford, began by manufacturing simple white shirts which were sold to friends. So popular were these that the pair were able to open their first shop in Kent in 1983. Stores in London, Brighton and Guildford were shortly to follow as Millen’s collections gained growing popularity.
